Make the most of your Justgiving sponsorship page

Once you have created your online sponsorship page at www.justgiving.com/cgdtrust/raisemoney, you will be able to start using it immediately. There are lots of ways to boost support.
  1. Personalise your page
Add your own photograph and text. Tell people why you have chosen to raise money and why you believe your chosen charity deserves support. Be creative!
  2. First
Ask your closest family and friends to donate. An empty page can be a little off putting. It also helps if you contact your most generous supporters first, to encourage everyone else!
  3. Tell everyone you know
As well as emailing your entire current address book, don’t forget other potential supporters: former colleagues, old school and college friends, fellow members of a church, club, PTA – you may be surprised how many would like to sponsor you. Ask them to pass on the message to anyone else you might like to support the CGD RT. Don’t forget the internet is global – what about those friends living overseas?
  4. Keep everyone up to date on your progress
News about your training, sponsorship, any news about the charity will all help to keep people interested in how you are doing.
  5. Use your email address to raise awareness
Add the address of your webpage at the bottom of every email.
  6. Put up notices in our gym, church, college, children’s school etc.
Tell people what you are doing and why, and invite them to go to your webpage. It is surprising how often complete strangers are moved to sponsor or support an event.
  7. Ask to be on your company’s website
Ask your webmaster/sub-editor at work whether they would be prepared to add to site to the company/organisatons; website or intranet. Some companies may even offer a ‘matched giving’ scheme.
  8. Contact your local media
A few lines in your local paper or on local radio can work wonders! It is so easy for readers and listeners to visit you page and sponsor you.
  9. Personalise your thank-you email
When you create your page, you have the opportunity to personalise the thank- you message each donor automatically received. You can ask them to pass on your web address to anyone else at the same time.
  10. Keep on fundraising after your event
20% of all donations through Justgiving come in after people have completed their fundraising event. Update your page and email everyone with news of your success and ask if anyone who hasn’t yet donated can help swell the total.
