There is no specific form for the initial proposals or ‘letters of intent’. On no more than two pages of A4 paper we need a concise outline of the proposed project:
- A clear definition of the specific problem
- A reasoned argument for how this problem will be tackled, some background, with evidence from previous published work and/or preliminary data to support the hypothesis
- A brief plan of the proposed experiments
- The predicted outcome(s)
- Potential pitfalls and how they will be overcome
- How your proposed research will benefit CGD patients in layman’s terms Please take some time to consider and write this. This section plays a significant part in the review process.
- An outline of the proposed budget. Note that institutional overheads and administrative costs cannot be covered.
